Embodied States: Practices for Living & Dying
November 9, 2023 @ 6:45 pm - 8:00 pm
We understand through neuroscience that meditation and meditative-adjacent practices like qigong, gentle yoga, prayer, hand mudra, and mantra have the capacity to generate “positive neuroplasticity” — actual changes in how our brains relate with life, how we care for ourselves and others, how we perceive the world around us, and how we respond to stress and adversity, aging, illness, and death. The Embodied States series emphasizes specific practices that generate lasting healthy changes in the brain to nurture how we inhabit our inner world and how we connect with Life and with Death.
This series explores how to engage meditative practice to deepen our connection with Life, with Self, and with Death, and how these relationships are deeply intertwined. Furthermore, how to use mind-body and meditative practice to support others who are going through the Death & Dying process (including the many small deaths we experience in the form of illness, change, and loss) as well as caregivers. Attend the live sessions on Zoom or follow along with the recordings of the sessions at your own pace, or both. Here are some of the themes we will plumb the depths of through mind-body practice:
π The Four Contemplations: (1)Β The Preciousness of Life and This Moment (2) The Ever-Present Nature of Change, Death, and Impermanence (3) How Cause & Effect Plays Out in Our Lives (Karma); (4) The Nature of Suffering and Our Capacity to Transform Suffering into Greater Compassion, Awakening, and Liberation
